Need to Get 'Em All...

Em Cosmetics Sheer Lipsticks I mean...although I would love to get all the pokemons too. Before I begin talking about this amazing lipstick, I would like to apologize for quite a few things. 1. For the lack of posts for so long. I tried to post as often as I could during finals week but then I had to pack my bags and do a lot of other things so I started running out of time to write.  2. Once I had packed those bags I had to travel back home and now I might not find the time to post very often either. I'm back home with my friends and family(including my cat of-course) after 5 long months and I'm so happy! I missed them way too much. So I hope you understand that as much as I love to write for you guys I really might not find much time between my cat showing me all his new hiding places and toys and spending time with friends.

So now for the lipstick. For quite a few months I loved the L'oreal Color Riche Balm and I still do but the Em Cosmetics Sheer Lipstick has replaced it in my spot of favorite sheer lipstick. This is usual with me because I love my sheer balms and lippies and constantly find new favorites. The shade I've been using is 'Violaceous'. It looks like a true violet/purple in the bullet but works out pretty sheer and rosy. The color looks really similar to one of my favorite tinted lip balms- Plum Lip Balm by The Body Shop- so I guess now I know why I'm attracted to it. It isn't as thick and moisturizing as the L'oreal lippie but it is still moisturizing enough. The packaging is not glamorous but it's elegant and I quite like it. It is metallic as opposed to the plastic packaging that most lippies come in and I definitely like the feel of this metallic packaging more. For the lack of time and since my usual phone isn't working I couldn't click any photographs of product itself so I borrowed a few from Google. I might replace them with the pictures that I click eventually.

However, I was able to find the pictures of me wearing this lipstick so that you can have an idea of what it looks like, the color payoff and how sheer it really is.

Overall, I really like this lipstick and I use it almost everyday. I noticed that I love writing posts that have to do with lip products but that's because they're one of my most-used products and I want to share them with you. So let me know in the comments if you would like a Lip Balm collection post ( I think I have quite a good collection) or just a favorite lip balms post. Also, tell me if you like this post and if you think you're going to go get the Em Cosmetics Sheer Lipstick. I use it everyday so I think you might just love it!

L'oreal Colour Riche Balm Review.

"Indulge your lips with Colour Riche® Balm. This tinted lip balm provides a hint of luscious, kissable color, smoothing lips instantly and for a full 8 hours of continuous hydration. Lips are softer and more supple all day long—and keeps conditioning even after it’s been removed."
That's what L'oreal says about this lip product. While I agree that it's pretty hydrating (much more than I expected) , saying 8 hours is a stretch. It doesn't even stay on my lips for 8 hours so obviously, it doesn't hydrate them for 8 hours.
It comes in 8 shades that I'm pretty happy with. It's a well-thought range of shades with a shade for every person. The shade I have is Tender Mauve.

The texture of this product is quite similar to the Revlon Lip Butters but I like the packaging of these much more. The pretty and shiny metallic parts go well with the translucent and sleek plastic covers.
Tender Mauve is a sheer (all the shades have a sheer finish) pink. It just isn't your typical bright or pale pink but rather a very unique and wonderful baby pink with a hint of purple. However, it leaves you with the famed 'my lips but better' look that everyone loves.

This is the perfect everyday lip product since it doesn't give a very bold look but still adds color. Overall, I'm really pleased with the product. I would think it's a cheaper dupe for YSL Volupte Sheer Candy but I've never tried one of those so I can't say for sure. The consistency, texture and finish just looks really similar to the swatches I've seen of some YSL Volupte Sheer Candy shades and a few YSL Rouge Volupte Shine shades. However, I don't promise that they're the same. There's just a high probability that they are.
If you like sheer lip colors, go try this out because it's wonderful for those days when you can't decide on a color.

Let me know if you've tried any of these or the YSL lippies before and how they compare. I hope you found this post helpful. You can follow me on Twitter, Bloglovin' , Facebook and Polyvore :D

Monsoon v/s Mascara

You step out of the house feeling happy and beautiful. You've taken the time to go through your daily makeup routine. Maybe you even put in some extra time to make it look flawless for a special event and then the rain comes pouring down and washes it all off. This is probably the most frustrating aspect of the monsoon in the day of every fashionista. However, I was determined to not let the rain keep me away from experiencing the little flutter of joy I feel every time I put on some lovely bright eyeshadow or blush. Soon I realized that all you need is a little change in products and routine to avoid looking like a monster with eyeliner and mascara running down your face every time it rains. So here's my list of dos and donts to perfect your waterproof makeup routine.

Rain means humidity which is your first cue to stay away from heavy moisturizers. Use a light moisturizer or better still, opt for a tinted moisturizer that would replace your heavy foundation as well.
Stay away from powder foundation! These would run down your face and look cakey at the first touch of water. BB creams are a great alternative to powder or liquid foundations. Most BB creams are also waterproof and therefore will give you coverage even through the rain. Although powder foundations could ruin a look during the monsoon, mattifying powders could be your best friends. Always keep some mattifying powder or oil absorbing tissues handy to soak up the oil and grease that could form on your skin after a bit of rain.

Recommended products: Maxfactor Miracle Touch Foundation, MUFE Face and Body Foundation, Truematch by Loreal and Dream Matte Foundation by Maybelline (though it is not marketed as a waterproof foundation it does not budge even if you go for a swim)

No girl would want to skip her blush. It adds a healthy glow and is a necessity for any makeup look (especially if you have pale skin like mine which would look lifeless without a stroke of blush). Cream blushes are your best bet for the monsoon and even the summer. Cream blushes are usually waterproof but even when they aren't waterproof they're still quite difficult to take off with just water.

Recommended: MUFE Aqua cream for eyes and cheeks (this is a multitasking product that can be used as an eyeshadow or a lip/cheek tint depending on the shade). I also heard that it is used by the Aqualillies (a professional synchronized swim team from the USA) so you couldn't go wrong with these little pots of color. Maxfactor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush, Benetint or Posietint by Benefit cosmetics.

It is best to avoid lipsticks and lipglosses when it's pouring outside. I'm sure we've all experienced how sticky they tend to get when they're touched by water. They also don't perform so well on the staying-power front. My favorites for the monsoon and summer are lip stains.

Recommended: Benetint by Benefit cosmetics, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain ( this one is my favorite and I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat! It stays on all day and because it is a fusion of lip balm and lipstain, it does not leave you with the dry-matte-lips feeling that most lip stains do). Lip stains, sadly, are yet to peak in popularity in India. How I wish the Stila Cherry Crush lip stain was available here.

Lastly we talk about the eyes. I saved the most exciting one for last! Fortunately, there is a whole plethora of waterproof eye makeup that you can experiment with. In my opinion, Maybelline makes the best waterproof mascaras. They have a waterproof version to every formulation of mascara they bring out. It is better to skip applying mascara on your lower lashes since that is where it is most likely to smudge and spread. As for eyeliners, waterproof liquid eyeliners are your safest bets. Gel eyeliners smudge very easily with water and very few pencil eyeliners have a waterproof formula. Maybelline again, has some of the best waterproof eyeliners I have ever used. Loreal Telescopic Waterproof Eyeliner is also a lasting liner.
It seems Maybelline has mastered the art of waterproof makeup with their new release of the 24hr Color Tattoos. These cream eyeshadows are waterproof and don't even crease! They also make for a great base for other eyeshadows. NYX Jumbo Eyepencils are also said to be water resistant although I have never tried them myself. Revlon Cream Eyeshadow Quads(Review here) come in a great range of shades and will stay put through the rains.

This post turned out to be much longer than I expected but if you're going to waterproof your makeup, just like anything else, there must be no leaks. I hope I've helped you with this post. Come back for another post for the best hairstyles for monsoon/summer this year to keep the rain and sweat away from your lovely locks. I will also include some tips for hair care during this humid weather. (You can find the post here)
