Weekly picks!

I spend a lot of my time looking at beautiful clothes and accessories in online stores. I'm sure you do too. So I decided to start a series where I post my favorite products of the week with a description, why I like them and a link to where you can buy them if you like them.

Here's my first ever weekly pick. A beautiful white blazer/jacket. However, the reason I like it is that it's not just a simple white blazer. It has embellishments and chains on the shoulders that make it look so edgy! I simple love this and would wear it every single day if I bought it.
If you like it you can check it out and buy it at http://bit.ly/IrRsgy

I love every detail of this jacket. It's well-structured and amazingly well tailored. The double breasted buttons just add an element of sophistication and the embellishments are the cherry on the top.
You can find it at http://bit.ly/IrRsgy and luckily, it is on clearance right now.

So what do you think? Should I do a post like this every week or ever 2 weeks? Is it a good idea?

Current Favorites: Nail Essentials.

Since you guys liked my first post about nails so much I decided to do one more. This one has all my current favorites and basically what I use doing my nail routine.

As much as I love nail polish, I hate the process of taking it off! It's a time-consuming process that leaves my fingers sore from rubbing nail polish remover on the nails. I found that using nail polish removing wipes is the best alternative. While you still have to rub them on your nails, they just aren't as time consuming and messy as cotton balls/cotton pads and nail polish removing liquid. I've been loving these nail polish removing wipes because they come in perfectly cut small circles. They're also fragranced and were available in several different fruity fragrances but I picked Apple and Mango. These smell so delicious! After you've used them, they leave your fingers smelling sweet and fruity. They're by a Korean brand I think called Ruoker so I'm not sure where you can find the same ones but I'm sure some beauty supply store stocks them since I found them in a local beauty supply store.

Technically, these nail stickers/foils can't be favorites since I haven't used them yet but I've used a different variety that I had picked up from Thailand and loved them so I'm going to give these a try too.
They nail file is from the same store that I got these nail stickers in (not in Thailand in case I confused you). I don't file my nails very often since they just maintain a natural shape but this one looks so cute! And well I guess it's always good to have a nail file handy for situations when the nails grow crazily.

My L'Occitane Hand Cremes! I use these all throughout the day but I make sure to always use a bit right after my nail polish is dry. The nail polish remover and washing dehydrates your hands and nails and it's always good to moisturize them.

Lastly, this is the nail color I'm wearing right now and I love it! I'm going to reapply it throughout this month and it's a true November Favorite. It's the Lakme Fast & Fabulous in Punchy Pink. Please excuse the state and appearance of the bottle. I dropped it once and the glass in the right corner chipped off and then I dropped other nail colors on it. Hahaha.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Let me know what you think in the comments and what are your favorite nail products? You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin' and gfc.

Victoria Jackson Foundation Review & Exclusive Discount!

Foundations are some of the most talked about beauty products. Ideally it shouldn’t be difficult to find the perfect foundation but with so many different formulations and packages and shades it’s like a great puzzle. This also makes it really difficult for makeup brands to come up with a great new foundation and makes me want to read more foundation review posts. I really like reading foundation reviews because they give me an idea of whether I would like the foundation or not before I even buy it.

Today I’m going to review 2 products by VICTORIA JACKSON so here we go :

Victoria Jackson Foundation Duo in Tan ($29.95) :  I love love love the packaging of these products! It’s sleek and simple and they don’t waste a lot of space either. The Duo comes with a little sponge applicator which is really soft and applies the product well. I never use sponges but I really like this one and it’s the only way to apply this foundation well. The coverage is very sheer and I wasn’t very impressed with it. However, this shade is definitely too dark for me (like 2 shades too dark) but as always It’s fun to improvise and I realized that it’s great for contouring or just adding a slightly bronzed glow. I thought this shade would be perfect for me but beware – as soon as you touch the product it turns darker somehow. Overall it’s a good product but nothing I would repurchase. The reason I think it is good is because it does everything (like contour, bronze and counter redness) that it isn’t marketed as excellently but fails to do the very thing it’s supposed to be doing.

Victoria Jackson Pressed Powder in Medium ($24.95) : Now this is my shade. If Medium is the right shade in pressed powder for you, you should go for Light in the Foundation Duo. I use this on the T-zone as a mattifying powder and it holds up very well! I would recommend this to anyone as a handbag product. The packaging is cute and tiny while being totally sleek and elegant. It’s a product you would love to pull out of your bag just to show off.

If you like these products you can find them online at here and until December 31, 2013 you can receive a discount of 20% off your total by using the code BLOG2013 . I would recommend that you get the Pressed Powder because after the foundation I didn’t expect much and it surprised me! Lovely product.

I hope you liked this review. Let me know what you think about it and whether you would be purchasing anything from this brand in the comments below because I love to hear from you guys. You can follow me on Twitter , Facebook , Bloglovin' and Polyvore

L'oreal Colour Riche Balm Review.

"Indulge your lips with Colour Riche® Balm. This tinted lip balm provides a hint of luscious, kissable color, smoothing lips instantly and for a full 8 hours of continuous hydration. Lips are softer and more supple all day long—and keeps conditioning even after it’s been removed."
That's what L'oreal says about this lip product. While I agree that it's pretty hydrating (much more than I expected) , saying 8 hours is a stretch. It doesn't even stay on my lips for 8 hours so obviously, it doesn't hydrate them for 8 hours.
It comes in 8 shades that I'm pretty happy with. It's a well-thought range of shades with a shade for every person. The shade I have is Tender Mauve.

The texture of this product is quite similar to the Revlon Lip Butters but I like the packaging of these much more. The pretty and shiny metallic parts go well with the translucent and sleek plastic covers.
Tender Mauve is a sheer (all the shades have a sheer finish) pink. It just isn't your typical bright or pale pink but rather a very unique and wonderful baby pink with a hint of purple. However, it leaves you with the famed 'my lips but better' look that everyone loves.

This is the perfect everyday lip product since it doesn't give a very bold look but still adds color. Overall, I'm really pleased with the product. I would think it's a cheaper dupe for YSL Volupte Sheer Candy but I've never tried one of those so I can't say for sure. The consistency, texture and finish just looks really similar to the swatches I've seen of some YSL Volupte Sheer Candy shades and a few YSL Rouge Volupte Shine shades. However, I don't promise that they're the same. There's just a high probability that they are.
If you like sheer lip colors, go try this out because it's wonderful for those days when you can't decide on a color.

Let me know if you've tried any of these or the YSL lippies before and how they compare. I hope you found this post helpful. You can follow me on Twitter, Bloglovin' , Facebook and Polyvore :D

The Bag-Centric Outfit

While I stared at the pretties and lovelies that I found on polyvore, I suddenly had this idea. It was perfect since I hadn't posted any of my polyvore creations in a while and also because it felt different. I decided to create a whole outfit that was inspired by a bag. Think of it like this: instead of the bag being an accessory that adds to the outfit, the bag is the focus of the whole look and everything else compliments the bag. I found this black clutch with white lace and a crystal clasp which seemed perfect and it inspired me to put together an outfit that had a theme of black, white and glitter. However, since being different is the idea behind the whole look, I decided to add pieces that wouldn't necessarily go together otherwise. Rather than a plain black or a white dress, I chose this black shift dress with sequins to glam it up and a satin bow belt to make it more fitted and less "shift-y" (if that's even a word). Next came the shoes and although high heels may have been what my brain immediately thought of, I decided to use these black wedges with gold chains. They add a certain roughness to the outfit that you wouldn't see coming and yet keep it glamorous. Plain black studs so that the focus still stays on the bag. At first I had picked a dark berry lip but then this pale pink lipcolor seemed to highlight the elegance of the clutch even more. Then came the dark burgundy nails (a light color would have taken attention away from the white lace on the clutch) and a sultry but classy smoky eye!

So there it is. Let me know what you think of it in the comments below. You can follow me on polyvore to see the creations that don't get posted on the blog. Stay updated by following me on Twitter, Bloglovin' , gfc and Facebook.

The Perfect Fall/Autumn Palette (Wet n Wild)

I've been looking for that perfect autumn eyeshadow palette for a while now. Those of you that follow me on twitter may have seen the Illamasqua palette that I tweeted about. But let's face it. Not all of us can go out and splurge on a seasonal Illamasqua palette no matter how beautiful it is. I think I have found the perfect alternative to it- Wet n Wild Coloricon palette in Knock On Wood 383B. With 3 beautiful colors for just $2.99 you can't really go wrong. Some may not like the packaging because it is quite flimsy but I like the look of it. Basically, there's nothing at all that I don't like about this product.

The eyelid color is a pretty plum with hints of brown and red. This was the color that attracted me to the palette in the first place and I didn't care for the other 2 colors at first. It's a wonderful color that compliments brown eyes perfectly. The crease color is a shimmery brown. This is a very common color and I have look-alikes of this color in many of my other palettes. However, it's handy to have it in this one too since it goes well with the eyelid color and now I won't need to carry 2 palettes with me. The browbone color is a pale pink with just the right amount of shimmer. Even though the eyelid color was what attracted me to this palette, this pale pink has become my favorite. It's gorgeous enough to just stare at all day!

From what I've heard, Wet n Wild eyeshadows have impeccable quality, texture and pigmentation. This product is no exception. I was taken aback by how smooth and soft the texture of the eyeshadows was and the pigmentation is stunning. As you can probably guess, I love this palette and cannot stop praising it. Go get one and try it for yourself. You won't regret it.

Hope you found this post useful. I love talking about great products such as this one with you guys so that you can try them out too. Let me know what you think and if you've tried this palette before. Is there any other Wet n Wild product that you recommend I should try?

New Year's Eve Nails

I believe it's never too early to be in the holiday mood. Which is why I'm already planning everything associated with Christmas and New Year's eve in my head already! Part of that planning process involves planning the makeup and nail look that I would wearand it's time for me to start experimenting with my nail paints before I decide which nail look I want. Here's the first look that I'm trying out. I was going for sparkles and confetti against a dark blue sky (like the end of the count down on New Year's eve! ). For the dark blue sky I used 2 coats of CELIN Paris in number 56. It's a lovely deep blue with a tinge of teal and silver sparkles. For the sparkles and confetti I used ELF Chic Confetti. I finally used some of my L'OCCITANE Cherry Blossom hand creme just because I love it so much. I guess it would look better with a top coat but I've run out of it. It still looks good enough don't you think?

What do think? Is it good enough for New Year's Eve or should I keep experimenting? Let me know what you think about this look in the comments. I love reading your comments :)

BA STAR Review & Exclusive Discount

With Halloween scarcely behind us, Diwali in full swing, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve fast approaching, we’re now in Holiday Season! We’re finally in my favorite part of the year and I’ve been waiting all year for this. I love the weather (winter is my favorite season) and I love the holiday cheer and most of all…..I love holiday makeup.
How appropriate is it that right around this wonderful joyous time of the year BA Star decided to make me even happier with their wisely named Holiday Red Lip pencil? I’ve loved my Beauty (It’s some German brand) Poppy Red lip pencil for about a year but I was in the need for a deeper red. Poppy is a very bright and coral toned red. However, despite my love for deep red lips, I have warm-toned skin so warm toned lippies usually look better on me than deep cool-toned reds. That’s what I was afraid of when I first saw this BA Star Lippie but surprisingly enough it manages to be a deep red with warm undertones that looks PERFECT with my warm-toned skin. So to all my warm-toned friends looking for that perfect strawberry/berry red – I’ve found it!

Obviously, it’s shaped like a pencil and even though I didn’t like the transparent top at first, it makes sense considering there’s no other way to quickly see the color. You can lightly dot the pencil on your lips and then smudge it for a lighter red color.

You can also go over it with another coat for a deeper red. I somehow prefer wearing it like this. It may look a bit glossy in this picture but it’s actually quite a matte finish. I still find it more moisturizing than a typical stain.

Pros:
Beautiful color!
You can wear it on it’s own and layer on a lip gloss.
Wear it sheer or wear it darker (Versatile!)
Not as drying as pencils, stains and matte lipsticks usually are.
Good sized product

Cons:
The only thing I don’t like about this pencil is that the color smudges and spreads too easily but that could be because it’s so creamy. In this case I guess creaminess could be a good thing as well as a bad thing. Matte finished products don’t really smudge this much.

Overall I’m really impressed with this product. It’s a better red shade for my skin than I expected and if you’r careful about not smudging it, it’s almost perfect.
Now for the part you’ve read through the whole post for : the lovely people at BA Star have been so kind and given me a code to share with you guys. This code ensures a flat 50% off the ful retail price when you shop from their website ( http://bastar.com/ ). The code: BBLIPS
So head over right now and shop!

I hope you liked this post. Tell me what you think about this brand and review :)
