Bright Winters - Outfit post

It's been quite a while since I did an outfit post so when I came across a contest on polyvore, I decided to make a set for it even though the contest was already closed. The guidelines just seemed so interesting that I had to try and create an outfit for it. The contest required a perfect winter outfit but needs the picture of a city in it. I chose the picture with pretty snowflakes and fairy lights because it looks so festive. Bright colors are unexpected in a winter collection but they're beautiful so I went for a Fuchsia coat with fuchsia lips to go with it. The wonderful blue Oscar de la Renta highlights the fuchsia but still looks lovely with the snow and lights. I would love to wear this outfit to a lovely christmas dinner with family or friends. What do you think of this outfit? You can follow me on Polyvore to see other collections, sets and outfits.

My Christmas Nails - Maybelline ColorShow

It's finally christmas! (Did you notice the christmas count down on my sidebar? I'll miss that little thing after today. ) I absolutely love christmas and mostly because everything around me is bright, sparkly and festive. There are fairy lights and christmas trees everywhere. I always change my nail color and paint them for christmas day so that there aren't any chips. However, while I was at a Maybelline counter recently getting a few backups for staple products and such, I saw the perfect christmas color! I was about to buy a green shade (i don't remember the name of the shade) as the first shade to try from Maybelline's new ColorShow range in India. I'm glad I waited and found this beautiful shade instead. It's   a lovely red with silver sparkles. The sparkles aren't chunky and tacky, nor are they tiny like shimmer...they're just perfect. The cute name 'Velvet Wine' makes me like it even more.

Today I jumped out of bed bright and early to go look at my christmas presents when I saw my cat had found what I got for him. Isn't he just adorable?

I will have another post soon with my complete christmas look. I hope you like this post and let me know what you think of Velvet Wine. Have you tried any of the shades of the Colorshow range in India yet?

Weekly Picks : The Really Delayed Pick

I haven't done a weekly picks post for many weeks now. But I hadn't been perusing online stores all that much at all recently. Lucky for my Indian readers, I was out shopping in India and there will be many posts about it soon. I read a tweet today by a follower that talked about SwayChic so I decided to check out the store. It is not the usual kind of online store that I would spend a lot of time looking at but it had quite a few lovely pieces! A majority of the products are quirky and I can shop for quirky things only when I'm in one of my weird moods. However, I found that there were some products that would look lovely and classy when styled right. So my pick for today is an ear cuff. I don't have any ear cuffs because I'm not sure that they would look good on me but I still love them. For those of you who wear ear cuffs or are looking to start wearing them, this one is a beautiful statement piece. The moment I saw it, my brain began styling it with all-white outfits, white blazers over elegant blue print tshirts/tops and the sort. There are millions of outfits that can be put together around this one piece of jewelry and I love it.

I like the colors and I'm seriously obsessed with embellishments and jewels so this seems perfect to me. It's available for $15.20 at http://bit.ly/1i5MipQ. So will you be getting this ear cuff? Tell me what you think of this weekly pick and whether you would be getting it in the comments below. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Bloglovin' , Polyvore, GFC and Instagram (Yes, I finally got Instagram! ).

Happy Holidays!

FDS Personals Perfectly Portable Cleansing Cloths Review.

Like every beauty blogger, cleansing cloths/wipes are important to me. We use them to take off makeup while taking photos for several looks/tutorials and even while swatching. It's not just beauty bloggers that use them though. Anyone that wears makeup frequently knows that some days we're just too tired to go take the makeup off with a makeup remover and the cleansing cloths on the bedside table are like a blessing. However, when I'm looking for cleansing cloths I notice that most of them are harsh antibacterial wipes and refreshing cloths that aren't really made for taking off makeup. This is why I wanted to try the FDS Personals. They sound great when you read all about them and so I wanted to see how well they take off makeup.

The packaging isn't extravagant or beautiful but it's cute and for something like cleansing cloths I don't think such extensive packaging is even required. I like how they divided the 30 cloths into 3 packets of 10 cloths each because it makes them so much easier to carry with you. I have carried them with me on my holiday and that's mostly why this post is quite late. I really wanted to give them a good testing before recommending them. I like the bright colors of the packets but the circles just make me think of carpets. Is that just me or do you think of carpets too when you see that design?

What the package says :Free of Parabens, Sulfates and Alcohol
Gentle enough for Sensitive skin
pH balanced & hypoallergenic
Gynecologist tested
Dermatologist tested
Discreet and flushable
No colors or dyes
Not tested on animals
You can find these at http://www.fds.info/
It sounds like these cloths aren't going to be too harsh and they've really been made to remove makeup and to be used on the delicate skin on the face. Many cleansing cloths have made my skin breakout before but these didn't. I am not in love with the fragrance but it's tolerable. My peach fragranced cleansing cloths smell about a thousand times more delicious and refreshing but if you haven't smelled them you'll never know what you're missing out on. I will definitely repurchase these cloths because they took off the makeup pretty well. However, I still have to try a few others like the ones by Ole Henrikson and Simple so I'll get those first.

So will you be trying these cloths? I do recommend giving them a try and they're really inexpensive compared to some others at the drugstore and high end. Let me know what you think about them in the comments below. Which cleansing cloths do you usually use? I would love to try the ones you like as well. Need to Get 'Em All...

Em Cosmetics Sheer Lipsticks I mean...although I would love to get all the pokemons too. Before I begin talking about this amazing lipstick, I would like to apologize for quite a few things. 1. For the lack of posts for so long. I tried to post as often as I could during finals week but then I had to pack my bags and do a lot of other things so I started running out of time to write.  2. Once I had packed those bags I had to travel back home and now I might not find the time to post very often either. I'm back home with my friends and family(including my cat of-course) after 5 long months and I'm so happy! I missed them way too much. So I hope you understand that as much as I love to write for you guys I really might not find much time between my cat showing me all his new hiding places and toys and spending time with friends.

So now for the lipstick. For quite a few months I loved the L'oreal Color Riche Balm and I still do but the Em Cosmetics Sheer Lipstick has replaced it in my spot of favorite sheer lipstick. This is usual with me because I love my sheer balms and lippies and constantly find new favorites. The shade I've been using is 'Violaceous'. It looks like a true violet/purple in the bullet but works out pretty sheer and rosy. The color looks really similar to one of my favorite tinted lip balms- Plum Lip Balm by The Body Shop- so I guess now I know why I'm attracted to it. It isn't as thick and moisturizing as the L'oreal lippie but it is still moisturizing enough. The packaging is not glamorous but it's elegant and I quite like it. It is metallic as opposed to the plastic packaging that most lippies come in and I definitely like the feel of this metallic packaging more. For the lack of time and since my usual phone isn't working I couldn't click any photographs of product itself so I borrowed a few from Google. I might replace them with the pictures that I click eventually.

However, I was able to find the pictures of me wearing this lipstick so that you can have an idea of what it looks like, the color payoff and how sheer it really is.

Overall, I really like this lipstick and I use it almost everyday. I noticed that I love writing posts that have to do with lip products but that's because they're one of my most-used products and I want to share them with you. So let me know in the comments if you would like a Lip Balm collection post ( I think I have quite a good collection) or just a favorite lip balms post. Also, tell me if you like this post and if you think you're going to go get the Em Cosmetics Sheer Lipstick. I use it everyday so I think you might just love it!

My Best Smokey Eye Yet:StudioGear Smokey Eye Palette Review.

I’ve always been quite scared of doing a black smokey eye look and every time I’ve tried it before, it turns out quite rubbish. (And that’s why I love brown smokey eyes and I do them pretty well I suppose.) However, I was recently sent this Holiday Smokey Eye Palette by Studio Gear and I was excited to try my luck at doing a smokey eye look again! I was quite anxious but I think it turned out pretty great and I was happy with it. I also realized why I was rubbish at it before and that had to do with the texture of the shadows I was using. These Studio Gear shadows may not be perfect for every look but their texture is exactly what you need to do a great black smokey eye. With a color like black, if you use a really soft and creamy shadow you will mess up the smokey eye look. However, these shadows have a sort of ‘grainy’ texture which I thought was odd at first but it gives you a lot more control while blending. These aren’t soft shadows but the texture is absolutely perfect for what they’re meant to do.

The packaging is really pretty and reminds me of the wonderful city lights. It’s really thin and sleek and perfect to carry with you on a vacation (which I actually did!).

Inside, we have a set of instructions, which aren’t the easiest to understand, but if you just follow the little diagram you will be good. I love the ‘coal’ and ‘charcoal’ shades and the only shade I really don’t like is the Frost shade. You can kind of see the grainy texture I was talking about in the swatches below and that strange texture works for every shadow except ‘frost’. In the center is my favorite bit- the blush! It’s the prettiest shade ever and it’s perfect for winter. I just love this shade of blush and I think I’m going to pop it out of this palette and put it in another magnetic palette to carry around with my other blushes.

blush, coal, glimmer, charcoal, frost
After that extraordinarily long description and review, here’s the smokey eye look I created.

I hope you guys like this look and tweet me a picture if you recreate it. Also I would love to do a tutorial and I'm thinking of starting a youtube channel so that I can post tutorials for you guys so let me know, in the comments below, if that's a good idea and if you would watch my videos. In the meanwhile I can do a tutorial for this look right here on the blog if you want me to.

Weekly Picks! It's Shoe-Time

It's time again for my Weekly pick! So if you didn't read my weekly picks post from last week, it's basically a post where I talk about something that I've been staring at on an online store and really really really want. So then I tell you about it and give you the link to that product so that you can go stare at it, fall in love and then buy it and join our club of shopaholics and fashionistas. Simple. This ween I decided to pick a shoe. I saw a girl wearing the most adorable nude heels and well my beloved pair of nude heels is quite ruined so I really need new ones. For once in my life I acted like a normal and sane human and didn't stop the girl to ask her about the shoes. Instead, I found a pair that's even prettier! It's got everything I need: Lace, Bows, Peep-toe Heels, Platform at the front of the shoe, Beautiful looking material. Nude shoes are essential for a girl like me because I'm short and nude heels are famous for making people look tall and long-legged. So here's the wonderful shoe:

Isn't it so prettyyyyy? You can find it here for $16.07. It looks like I could wear it all day since it has so much support. So do you like it? Are you going to buy it or do you have anther shoe on your wish list? I would love to know so comment below or send me a tweet. You can follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Bloglovin' , gfc and Polyvore.

Don't forget to comment and let me know what you think of this post and the series of weekly picks in general. You can find all my weekly picks under the weekly picks tab at the top. Have a great day :)

Clique Magazine : Free Monthly Magazine

Do you love looking at the glossy and beautiful pages of Vogue, Elle, Grazia, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, etc. ? Do you love to read about fashion, beauty and lifestyle? If you're reading this blog, I'm pretty sure you do. I absolutely love fashion and beauty magazines and they can make you feel happier even on crappy days. The one reason I never subscribe to an online magazine is because I don't like reading magazine's online. I want to touch the glossy and smooth pages and smell the distinct new-magazine-smell that I adore so much. Now let me tell you about this amazing dream that has come true.

Clique

Clique Magazine is a new fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazine just like the ones I listed above but still very different. Unlike the ones I listed, Clique is completely free! Unlike most free magazines, you get a printed copy mailed to your house every month (That's right! It's not an online magazine. I was surprised too). They also call it "the world's first shoppable magazine". This means that if you see anything like clothing, accessory or makeup product that a model in the magazine is wearing and like it, you can buy it for yourself. Clique also has a mobile app which allows you to access extra and special content for free and download or bookmark articles or pages from your printed issue. Honestly, it just sounds like the most fun you could have with a magazine.

You can sign up for it by clicking the picture above and it will take you to the sign up page. You can also click here to go sign up for it. So go sign up before they run out of stock!

Stars On Your Eyes : Starlooks Eye Pencil Review and Favorites!

Eyeliner….The one product that we all try so hard at perfecting but unfortunately, most of us are terrible at it. Eyeliners in any color can make a look perfect but they’re so annoyingly difficult to apply that beauty brands need to come up with new formulations and applicators all the time. When it comes to black eyeliner I love gel eyeliner because I find it much easier to use. However, colored and sparkly eyeliners are a whole different story. I tend to find that pencils are the easiest and unlike black eyeliner you don’t always need a precise and bold line. This post is like a cross between a review and a favorites post because I wanted to review the Starlooks eyeliner pencil but tell you guys about some of my other favorite colors.

I received the Starlooks Gem Eye Pencil in my November ipsy bag. I got the shade Amethyst that is the one I really hoped to get because I love it! It’s wonderfully glittery with a hint of purple. The texture isn’t too hard not too creamy so it’s easy enough to handle and doesn’t smudge all over the place. This is my go-to liner for days when I’m late for anything and my face reveals that I’m sleepy because it just brightens up the eyes.

I believe that sparkly pencil eyeliners are perfect for any look and also for when you’re not doing any look! For those makeup-free days just put some lip balm and a bit of glitter eyeliner and you’re good to go. I have certain staples that I always make sure I have and buy backups for when I’m about to run out of. These are my all-time favorite glitter eye pencil shades:
Copper, Gold, Greenish-Blue, silver and white.

Now I know white isn’t glittery but it’s the only matte eyeliner pencil in my essentials so I just included it in here. I tend to use the Gold liner more during summer and although the copper seems perfect for fall/autumn, it's just such a lovely shimmery neutral that it looks good all year round.

I suggest you try out the Starlooks Amethyst eye pencil especially if you have brown eyes because it will make your eyes looks lovely. I have always been a fan of this shade and had a Colorbar eye pencil in the same color but it had the worst texture I've ever seen! Try out some eyepencils in copper and gold too because I bet you will love them. I hope you liked this post. Do you have any staple shades that you always need in your collection? Let me know in the comments below. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Bloglovin' or gfc.

Weekly picks!

I spend a lot of my time looking at beautiful clothes and accessories in online stores. I'm sure you do too. So I decided to start a series where I post my favorite products of the week with a description, why I like them and a link to where you can buy them if you like them.

Here's my first ever weekly pick. A beautiful white blazer/jacket. However, the reason I like it is that it's not just a simple white blazer. It has embellishments and chains on the shoulders that make it look so edgy! I simple love this and would wear it every single day if I bought it.
If you like it you can check it out and buy it at http://bit.ly/IrRsgy

I love every detail of this jacket. It's well-structured and amazingly well tailored. The double breasted buttons just add an element of sophistication and the embellishments are the cherry on the top.
You can find it at http://bit.ly/IrRsgy and luckily, it is on clearance right now.

So what do you think? Should I do a post like this every week or ever 2 weeks? Is it a good idea?

Current Favorites: Nail Essentials.

Since you guys liked my first post about nails so much I decided to do one more. This one has all my current favorites and basically what I use doing my nail routine.

As much as I love nail polish, I hate the process of taking it off! It's a time-consuming process that leaves my fingers sore from rubbing nail polish remover on the nails. I found that using nail polish removing wipes is the best alternative. While you still have to rub them on your nails, they just aren't as time consuming and messy as cotton balls/cotton pads and nail polish removing liquid. I've been loving these nail polish removing wipes because they come in perfectly cut small circles. They're also fragranced and were available in several different fruity fragrances but I picked Apple and Mango. These smell so delicious! After you've used them, they leave your fingers smelling sweet and fruity. They're by a Korean brand I think called Ruoker so I'm not sure where you can find the same ones but I'm sure some beauty supply store stocks them since I found them in a local beauty supply store.

Technically, these nail stickers/foils can't be favorites since I haven't used them yet but I've used a different variety that I had picked up from Thailand and loved them so I'm going to give these a try too.
They nail file is from the same store that I got these nail stickers in (not in Thailand in case I confused you). I don't file my nails very often since they just maintain a natural shape but this one looks so cute! And well I guess it's always good to have a nail file handy for situations when the nails grow crazily.

My L'Occitane Hand Cremes! I use these all throughout the day but I make sure to always use a bit right after my nail polish is dry. The nail polish remover and washing dehydrates your hands and nails and it's always good to moisturize them.

Lastly, this is the nail color I'm wearing right now and I love it! I'm going to reapply it throughout this month and it's a true November Favorite. It's the Lakme Fast & Fabulous in Punchy Pink. Please excuse the state and appearance of the bottle. I dropped it once and the glass in the right corner chipped off and then I dropped other nail colors on it. Hahaha.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Let me know what you think in the comments and what are your favorite nail products? You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin' and gfc.

Victoria Jackson Foundation Review & Exclusive Discount!

Foundations are some of the most talked about beauty products. Ideally it shouldn’t be difficult to find the perfect foundation but with so many different formulations and packages and shades it’s like a great puzzle. This also makes it really difficult for makeup brands to come up with a great new foundation and makes me want to read more foundation review posts. I really like reading foundation reviews because they give me an idea of whether I would like the foundation or not before I even buy it.

Today I’m going to review 2 products by VICTORIA JACKSON so here we go :

Victoria Jackson Foundation Duo in Tan ($29.95) :  I love love love the packaging of these products! It’s sleek and simple and they don’t waste a lot of space either. The Duo comes with a little sponge applicator which is really soft and applies the product well. I never use sponges but I really like this one and it’s the only way to apply this foundation well. The coverage is very sheer and I wasn’t very impressed with it. However, this shade is definitely too dark for me (like 2 shades too dark) but as always It’s fun to improvise and I realized that it’s great for contouring or just adding a slightly bronzed glow. I thought this shade would be perfect for me but beware – as soon as you touch the product it turns darker somehow. Overall it’s a good product but nothing I would repurchase. The reason I think it is good is because it does everything (like contour, bronze and counter redness) that it isn’t marketed as excellently but fails to do the very thing it’s supposed to be doing.

Victoria Jackson Pressed Powder in Medium ($24.95) : Now this is my shade. If Medium is the right shade in pressed powder for you, you should go for Light in the Foundation Duo. I use this on the T-zone as a mattifying powder and it holds up very well! I would recommend this to anyone as a handbag product. The packaging is cute and tiny while being totally sleek and elegant. It’s a product you would love to pull out of your bag just to show off.

If you like these products you can find them online at here and until December 31, 2013 you can receive a discount of 20% off your total by using the code BLOG2013 . I would recommend that you get the Pressed Powder because after the foundation I didn’t expect much and it surprised me! Lovely product.

I hope you liked this review. Let me know what you think about it and whether you would be purchasing anything from this brand in the comments below because I love to hear from you guys. You can follow me on Twitter , Facebook , Bloglovin' and Polyvore
